The irony of life. 1 Kings 18:16 So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him, and Ahab went to meet Elijah. 17 When he saw Elijah, he said to him, “Is that you, you troubler of Israel?”
This is King Ahab speaking to Prophet Elijah. How often that we see our helper, deliver, solace comfort as troublers of our soul. The wicked King that has brought evil upon the Kingdom, calls he whom the Lord has sent with good news – Elijah troubler of Israel! Who is troubling who? How often are we blinded by our own wickedness, greed, self righteousness, envy, jealousy, hatred of self and others to see the good God in his mercy has sent to us in whatever form they may come.
God put treasures in earthen vessels, I presume to ensure only the discerning and wise will see, take, and possess with joy. Pearls are not meant for swine! 2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us – KJV. NIV stated it this way, But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
Jesus Christ our Lord was said to be possessed by Beelzebul by the religious authority of his time. His family said He was out of his mind. What is that? Good is been spoken of as evil while evil walks the isle with applause and admiration like the new law in my next door neighbors land down south.
Mark 3: 20 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. 21 When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”23 So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house. 28 Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.” 30 He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”
What good has God brought to you and I, across our part that we have looked upon with disdain? That man, woman, child, brother, sister, business, family, gift, organization etc that we have been brought in contact with just might be the solution to that pressing issue/issues that you have. That issue you have that no one knows about but God. Jesus Christ came to his own to save them, they had been looking forward to his coming but failed to see him as he is, the Savior.
Have you disdainfully looked upon people and the many blessings of God in your life? Will you seek God’s face in prayer of praise, thanksgiving and forgiveness today. Ask for clarity so your eyes can be open to behold the beauty and glory of God as He want you to see. Ask for a seeing eye to begin to see the treasures in the vessels God placed in and around your life.
May the eyes of our understanding be opened to see clearly depth of insight in your word oh Lord in Jesus name. May our ears be opened to hear clearly your instructions and our hearts be receptive to receive of you Lord. May our spirit be energized to obey and do that which is of your great pleasure in Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen
