Provision! Where Are You?

2 Samuel 15: 19 Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, “Why are you also going with us? Return and remain with the king. For you are a foreigner and also an exile from your own place. 20 In fact, you came only yesterday. Should I make you wander up and down with us today, since I go I know not where? Return, and take your brethren back. Mercy and truth be with you.” 21 But Ittai answered the king and said, “As the Lord lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in whatever place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also your servant will be.” 22 So David said to Ittai, “Go, and cross over.” Then Ittai the Gittite and all his men and all the little ones who were with him crossed over. 23 And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people crossed over. The king himself also crossed over the Brook Kidron, and all the people crossed over toward the way of the wilderness.

24 There was Zadok also, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God. And they set down the ark of God, and Abiathar went up until all the people had finished crossing over from the city.25 Then the king said to Zadok, “Carry the ark of God back into the city. If I find favor in the eyes of the Lord, He will bring me back and show me both it and His dwelling place. 26 But if He says thus: ‘I have no delight in you,’ here I am, let Him do to me as seems good to Him.”27 The king also said to Zadok the priest, “Are you not a seer? Return to the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar. 28 See, I will wait in the plains of the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me.” 29 Therefore Zadok and Abiathar carried the ark of God back to Jerusalem. And they remained there.

Friends, before you were born the Lord knew you, in whatever situation or circumstances you are right now, be rest assured the Lord knows. He sees your frailty, strength, courage, doubt, fear and much more. God has made provision for all your needs, both emotional, physical, financial, in every spheres of life. God has brought people across your path at stages in life to prepare you for your destiny. You have a purpose to fulfill!

The Lord knew all about Absalom treason, his plans, timing, and all. Everything was and has always been orchestrated by the Sovereign God. How else can you explain Ittai the Gittite entrance into David’s life, or Ruth’s’ insistence on going with Naomi back to the land of Judah in Ruth 1:16. The Lord knew David will need loyal people around him in this trying period. People that are subject to David not because he is King, those that will add value to his life and provide moral support. The Lord knew Jesse had to come from the womb of Ruth and Boaz, the great grand parents of our Lord Jesus Christ.

You see friends, some people ran out of your life for a purpose, and others came in too! Some friends stopped being friends sometime temporarily, or permanently for a purpose. Not everyone around you is required to go with you where God is taking you. All that you need per time has been provided. God is uprooting every plant He has not planted so that only those He planted will stand. Every tree that is not bearing fruit unto righteousness must of necessity be uprooted also. Know that everything is as planned by heaven. Absolutely nothing happens without God’s knowledge. Nothing takes God by surprise for He works in us to will and to act in order for Him to fulfill his good pleasure concerning us. Philippians 2:13.

David bore the consequence of his sin with Uriah’s wife with Amnon defilement of his step sister Tamar which led to Amnon’s murder by Absalom and his subsequent rebellion against his father David. My take on all this is as a result of the word release by God against David in 2 Samuel 12:12 “For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun.” The Word was set in motion and speedily everything created had to rise up to obey The Word Himself. Amnon started having inordinate desire, and so on.

Yet in the midst of all this woes befalling David, God rally round valiant and loyal people to support David in his time of need because God loves him still, it was his sin he hates and punished. David remains God’s special person and was not left alone!  God actually used this opportunity to get rid of Absalom for he would have been a hindrance to Solomon ascending the throne had he still been alive. You see my friends, God is a master planner. He knows the end from the beginning and works everything out for his own.

All the provision Moses needed in the wilderness were provided while he was in the palace. He grew up as a royal, saw the agony of His people in Egypt to sensitize Him to what lies in his future – deliverer in Exodus 2. He was driven out and the next contact with other humans, he defended the Priest of Midian daughters and so on. He had to be broken to find himself in the will of God for his life.

I see a colourful and beautiful future on the horizon for you my friends. God has prepared everything, all the details has been put together and awaiting you to rise up and take your place. To be specific, I heard ” plug yourself in” The decision is yours to place yourself where the spirit of God is leading you. Where do you see yourself? What do you see yourself doing? Everything has been provided, just rise up to the task for the Lord is with you.

Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.

Psalms 132: 13  For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place: 14 “This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
15 I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread. 16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation, And her saints shall shout aloud for joy. 17 There I will make the horn of David grow; I will prepare a lamp for My Anointed.

Trust thou in the Lord!
