Joshua 24:14“Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshipped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
16 Then the people answered, “Far be it from us to forsake the Lord to serve other gods! 17 It was the Lord our God himself who brought us and our parents up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we travelled. 18 And the Lord drove out before us all the nations, including the Amorites, who lived in the land. We too will serve the Lord, because he is our God.”
Friends, can you relate to the above response to Joshua’s statement by the people of Israel? Do you understand the context? Can you really relate this to your own life? I can!!! Oh Lord my God! Far be it for me to forsake the Lord my God to serve other gods! Lord, were you not the force that brought me out of my mother’s womb? It was you Most High God that kept me all this while. You kept me through thick and thin!
You blessed me with a heart after you from youth, you kept me through the various disappointments in life, my heart did not get damaged afterall, you kept me tender! You kept me through lack and insufficiency, sickness and pain! Oh! How you delivered me from the worry of spinsterhood and loneliness, fear of barrenness and unfruitfulness!
Lord, you helped me to taste love, feel love and hold love albeit short-lived yet rewarding! Your kind of love overwhelms me, Lord!! Through the stormy seas, the raging tempest, the dark nights of living, you remain sturdy, a force within bearing me up! How can I forget Lord? Your tender mercies, loving kindness and steadfastness towards me, I could not understand, but that is who you are Lord.
How can I forget? Your hands holding, bearing and guiding me when I couldn’t stand, hold on or find my way. Oh Lord God of Israel, thank you. I will serve the Lord always for He is faithful! The Lord our God is Mighty. It is the Lord that goes before us to fight for us against all our enemies. It is the Lord that has not allowed it to be for us according to the desires of our enemies. He is my stronghold, my fortress and redeemer.
How about you friends? Have you looked back lately? To see how far you have come? Are you grateful for where you are this moment? It could be worst you know? Can you see the Lord even in that situation? Transition – joblessness, sickness, fruitlessness, loneliness, immigration issues, relationship issues, marital palaver, and all.
These issues are all transient, for the Lord is making ways where there was no way-Romans 8:18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. Remember He made a way through the red sea, brought the wall of Jericho down, raised the dead, healed the sick, settled the lonely in a family like Ruth, fed thousands with little, lifts up the downcast, helps the barren to carry, restored hope to the hopeless. What did Christ not do? What can He not do? Nothing!!! For with God nothing shall be impossible – Luke 1:37 KJV
What more can I say about this God my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? He is dependable and trustworthy, abounding in grace towards all who comes to Him. He said and is saying today in Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Friends, will you accept Christ Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Savior today? For we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God – Romans 3:23. Confess and forsake your evil ways, believe in your heart that He truly came to die for your sins and mine and rose up on the third day. He did!!!!! Declare Jesus as Lord over your life and begin to plead His blood over you.
The devil will flee for we overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and the words of our testimony -Revelation 12:11
Shalom! Shalom! Shalom!
