Depart From The Futile Works of The Flesh!

When misfortune strikes an individual, or a collective, we often attribute it to their sin. It is assumed, albeit, subtly, that they may have a secret sin bringing evil their way.  The Lord said this is not so. May we be shielded from all evil. As the mountain surround Jerusalem, Lord surround us now and forever. Psalms 125:2. We trust in you Lord, therefor, we are are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever-  Psalms 125:1.

Luke 13:1 Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

Jesus repeatedly warns in the paragraph above, “unless you repent, you too will all perish.” He went on to tell of the fig tree that was not bearing fruit. This is to teach us that God’s patience is meant to work out repentance in us 2 Peter 3:15.

Luke 13:6 Then he told this parable: A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’ “‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’

works of the flesh

The patience of God with us is to bring us to the place of seeing ourselves through Christ. To see how unfit we are for the assignment we are created for and to seek for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to purge us so we may begin to bear the fruit of repentance.

Lord God Almighty, you are faithful and merciful, abounding in grace, be gracious unto us. Forgive us Oh Lord of all our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Help us Lord to depart, to forsake the futile works of the flesh. Enable us to be spiritually minded that your grace upon us may not be in vain. We honor and praise you Lord for speedy answers to our petition in Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen

Shalom! Shalom! Shalom!
