1 Chronicles 12:32 And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

You think too highly of yourself! Who do you think you are? Is it all about you? I am sure you must have heard such addressed to you, or to someone in your presence. You will hear more of such as you step out in faith and in obedience.

Eliab, David’s older brother spoke accusatory to him also when he went to inquire about their welfare as instructed by their Father, Jesse. I Samuel 17:¹⁷ Now Jesse said to his son David, “Take this ephah of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread for your brothers and hurry to their camp.¹⁸ Take along these ten cheeses to the commander of their unit. See how your brothers are and bring back some assurance from them. 

In verse ²⁸ When Eliab, David’s oldest brother, heard him speaking with the men, he burned with anger at him and asked, “Why have you come down here? And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the wilderness? I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle.” ²⁹ “Now what have I done?” said David. “Can’t I even speak?” ³⁰ He then turned away to someone else and brought up the same matter, and the men answered him as before. ³¹ What David said was overheard and reported to Saul, and Saul sent for him.

King Saul, anointed, with the whole army of Israel were afraid of Goliath. None could face him, rather, none attempted, none was willing to lay down his life to take away this reproach from Israel. These were men chosen for their strength, skill, and experience, yet they failed. They failed because of their unwillingness to make sacrifices.

Friends, can you see the similarity between this story and what is taking place in your community, state, province, and country? This cut across every nation. Officials are selected, chosen, and elected, into office with the hope that they will represent and fight for the need of the electorate. However, they get to the battlefield, and suddenly they are too scared to speak, be a voice for the voiceless, and champion the cause of the people.

Well, God always has alternatives! He is never short of vessels fit for his use. A David is coming, unannounced, unassuming, and unexpected. David did not look like it, I mean, he wasn’t even qualified as an armor bearer, horse whisperer, neither a cook. He was just not fit for coming out for war. Yet, the Almighty God brought Goliath down by his hands. He gave his honor, life, everything as sacrifice to restore honor to the armies of the Most High.

David did not think highly of himself, he just wanted to stand for God! Some of us are so self conscious of their own honor to speak the truth where it matters! May God not replace you and I, for the axe is already place!

The Goliath defying the armies of God is coming down. As it was, so is! God already spoke it, so shall it be. Therefor, friends, whatever Goliath represent in your life, note that its time is short. What will bring it down will not look like it, sound like it, feel like it, dress like it, drive like it, run like it in anyways, yet Goliath will come down!
