A Servant Spirit! A Warriors Heart!

1 Samuel 14:6 Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised men. Perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.” “Do all that you have in mind,” his armor-bearer said. “Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul.”

It can be implied that Jonathan acted in disobedience here, for he sneaked out of the camp, and without so much as a permission from the King. Jonathan took matters into his own hands like Queen Esther did in the book of Esther 5, yet the Lord honored his faith with success for the whole of Israel.

To do the needful, the path often may not be smooth. It may be filled with do’s and don’ts, obstacles here and there, hindrances abounding at every turn. Just a handful of men with Father, Jonathan must have thought. What a pitiful state we are in as a nation? You might only have one person who believes in you and that is more than enough friend. Jonathan only had his armor bearer and he routed the Philistines outpost.

Jonathan could have decided to follow protocol, and remain in the cave or wherever he was hiding, but then he thought about God. What can He not do with one as with many? With pieces of fish and bread, He fed countless –John 6:1-14, from a small jar of oil, he established an industry – 2 Kings 4. What can God not do in and with your life?  A definite statement God is making even now!

What can He not do? From today’s reading in the Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye, the state of our mind determines what and how the Lord will use us. Having a servant spirit, a teachable spirit will endear you to the Lord. I believe Jonathan’s motive for stepping out was not so he can be hailed, just like David was not so much interested in what will be done to him who faced Goliath, as much as in destroying he who is defying the Lord’s army – 1 Samuel 17.

What then is your motive for stepping out of your comfort zone? What is your motive for taking that stand friend? Are you living for the Lord’s glory or for the adulation of men? A servant spirit is not about people pleasing, eye service kind of people! A Servant Spirit, a teachable spirit, refers to those who’s focus is about pleasing God in all their ways, serving God and man, submitting under those who themselves have submitted to God in every way, doing things not out of selfish gain, but for God’s kingdom on earth.

Do you have a servant spirit friends? Do I Lord have a servant spirit? Father, in every way my friends and I have rebelled against your commands, please forgive us today in Jesus mighty name. Create in us a right spirit, a heart of flesh submitted to you to mold for the purpose for which we are created. Psalms 51:17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise. Forgive us, Lord!!!!

Shalom! Shalom! Shalom!

Fear Not! And Obey!

There are many ways that we stand in our own way. When God gives you instruction and you disobey it because of fear or whatever, you are standing in the way of receiving the blessings due for obeying.

Many time we are more concerned about what others will say, how we may be perceived by people that we do not deliver messages God gave us to deliver. Even though we’ve been told not to look at the faces. Yoruba say “eni ran ni ni se la un beru”. Jeremiah 1:7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LordYet, what do we do? We withhold information that will benefit others, some info that will protect another from harm’s way, yet more that will save lost souls from eternal damnation. We dilute our messages to tickle ears, to be politically correct. This is absolute disobedience, which has ended up standing in the way of our impacting the world!

Ezekiel 2: And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people. You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious. But you, son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not rebel like that rebellious people; open your mouth and eat what I give you.” What more do I to know? What further instruction do I have to receive in order to do the Masters bidding?

Acts 5:29 Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings! Stop standing in your own way! Obey the Lord with speed. Trust Him to back up His Word! I mean you have seen God in action the few times you obey His instructions. Haven’t you? What will it take you to go all the way obeying God’s every instruction? Stop cherry picking, weighing it by what affects you personnally, will generate controversy and so on. Just obey the Lord and you will see the heavens open over you. The Lord is waiting on you and time wait for no one. Summon up courage and do the Lord’s bidding.

Be born again friends. You need a Savior, His name is Jesus Christ, He is waiting for you to call upon Him! Don’t keep Christ waiting!

Shalom! Shalom! Shalom!

Courage – Truth In Love!

So Elihu, the son of Barachel the Buzite, answered and said:

boldJob 32:6 I am young in years, and you are very old;
Therefore I was afraid,
And dared not declare my opinion to you.
I said, ‘Age should speak,
And multitude of years should teach wisdom.’
But there is a spirit in man,
And the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding.
Great men are not always wise,
Nor do the aged always understand justice.

10 “Therefore I say, ‘Listen to me,
I also will declare my opinion.’
11 Indeed I waited for your words,
I listened to your reasonings, while you searched out what to say.
12 I paid close attention to you;
And surely not one of you convinced Job,
Or answered his words—
13 Lest you say,
‘We have found wisdom’;
God will vanquish him, not man.
14 Now he has not directed his words against me;
So I will not answer him with your words.

15 “They are dismayed and answer no more;
Words escape them.
16 And I have waited, because they did not speak,
Because they stood still and answered no more.
17 I also will answer my part,
I too will declare my opinion.
18 For I am full of words;
The spirit within me compels me.
19 Indeed my belly is like wine that has no vent;
It is ready to burst like new wineskins.
20 I will speak, that I may find relief;
I must open my lips and answer.
21 Let me not, I pray, show partiality to anyone;
Nor let me flatter any man.
22 For I do not know how to flatter,
Else my Maker would soon take me away

Be Warned! Serve The Lord!

In the dream of the night, as I lay down to sleep, cradled by the arm of peace, a scene like no other. Behold, I saw a place of worship set up like a court house. It was like moving the interior of a court sitting into a place of worship and rearranging it in such a way that there are not just two sides but various groups sitting round what seems like a round dining table.

2-Corinthians-5-10-The-Judgement-Seat-of-Christ-pink-copyThere were about five groups that I saw, then I looked towards the altar, podium, stage as you might prefer and saw three great sits, more like royal thrones. I was wondering what this was all about! Why is this place arranged thus? Who could be sitting on these three majestic thrones?

I woke up and I didn’t have to pray for interpretation! I knew in my heart that this was about Me, Us and the whole body of Christ. We have formed groups, clans, tribes and so on and He who will come is prepared and coming soon to judge US all. I wish I had seen faces of those sited and where, however I know without a shadow of doubt that God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit were on the thrones on the alter, podium or pulpit.

What does this mean to you and I? Remember, what 1 Peter 4:17 says: For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 Now “If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

In another, I was in a house and heard thunderous sounds, frantic voices and screams and looked out, wondering what was going on. Behold, I saw rain of fire falling on roof tops here and there. I saw that some roofs were spared and a man down the street came out to help his neighbor. I frantically dressed up and was going out the door when I woke up.

Lord what was all that about were my first thought. Be merciful Lord! Then I remembered the court house dream. Friends, these are the end time. Quit half hearted Christlike living. Go all the way with your maker. Now is the time to rekindle the fire of His love in your heart. 2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Friends, But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:7

Father in every way we have encouraged divisiveness in your body, please forgive US and grant us the grace to unite with one purpose for the good of your body as a whole.

Lord ignite US afresh with your love for each other and ultimately for you so we may offer unto you acceptable sacrifice and be a conduit of peace and love to many in Jesus name.

Be merciful unto US oh Lord, deliver US from every form of unrighteousness in Christ Jesus name we pray! Amen

Carriers of Good News!!

harvestLuke 4:43 But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.”

Our Lord Jesus after healing many went to a solitary place to commune with The Everlasting Father, however the “people were looking for him and tried to “keep” him from leaving. In the journey of life, the fulfillment of God ordained destiny I want you my friends to know that there will always be issues that will want to keep us from walking according to the agenda of heaven. There will always be people, situations and circumstances that will want to hinder us from walking in the fullness of our God ordained destiny.

We all have been commissioned to preach the gospel and make disciples of all nations. Our Lord Jesus stated emphatically the above passage that he was not only to heal and deliver in Capernaum, a city in Galilee, but also to bring liberty to other towns.

Are you saved? I mean born again, redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ and heaven bound? Transformed by the renewing of your mind? What are you waiting for? We are to work together to bring this good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the other towns – other people, culture, tribes and so on. It start from our homes, parishes, churches of course and it spread to the ends of the earth.

What are those things that constitute hindrances? People and things that might want to keep us from destiny? Challenges of life, health, finances, material and marital. There are countless issues that will mitigate against us. We however have to learn to stay focus and carry our cross. Jesus Christ was rejected in Nazareth by his own community, he did not let that stop him from going to Capernaum and other cities with the good news.

Friends, we have to be resilient in the pursuit of our destiny carrying our crosses trusting wholly in Him who has saved us. He wants to come back to receive us to himself however there is so many more nations and people that has to come to the knowledge of him before he can come back to reign on earth. The whole nations of the earth and people have to hear the gospel .which we have been charged to deliver

Do we even care that tonnes are dying in their sins and countless living without hope. You and I have unique gift-ens  to reach out to various others with the gospel of repentance and salvation by faith in the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. What are you doing about it? What am I doing with that which God has entrusted to me?

This is the hour, the season to rise up in faith and the power of the Holy Spirit to do the Fathers bidding. Arise and shine for the light has come and the spirit of God has risen upon you. You must share this good news come what may. You’ll find out that the moment you step out in obedience, opportunity and grace will align to give utmost pleasure to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Will you partner with God today? Those personal issues will be resolved, trust God. Paul the apostle had no wife or kid and yet had a thorn, how much more you and I with spouses, children, siblings and so on. With this thorn he preached the gospel, pull down strongholds of ignorance and built an enduring legacy that we are living on even now. What will be said about you and I? Will our excuses stand on that day.

Friends, let us do the work of our Savior with utmost urgency and singleness of purpose. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and every other thing shall be added unto you.

Everlasting Father, we ask that you will strengthen us by your Holy Spirit in our inner man, that we might know the purpose for which you have called us. Give us courage and boldness to stand with you. We pray that we will be compassionate towards those that are suffering and clueless of your saving grace, warning them of the wages of sin and the need for faith in Jesus Christ. In Jesus mighty name we pray and receive. Amen
