Unexpected Help! Defending Honor!

1 Chronicles 12:32 And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

You think too highly of yourself! Who do you think you are? Is it all about you? I am sure you must have heard such addressed to you, or to someone in your presence. You will hear more of such as you step out in faith and in obedience.

Never-underestimate-the-greatness-inside-of-me

Eliab, David’s older brother spoke accusatory to him also when he went to inquire about their welfare as instructed by their Father, Jesse. I Samuel 17:17 Now Jesse said to his son David, “Take this ephah of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread for your brothers and hurry to their camp.18 Take along these ten cheeses to the commander of their unit. See how your brothers are and bring back some assurance from them.

In verse 28 When Eliab, David’s oldest brother, heard him speaking with the men, he burned with anger at him and asked, “Why have you come down here? And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the wilderness? I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle.” 29 “Now what have I done?” said David. “Can’t I even speak?” 30 He then turned away to someone else and brought up the same matter, and the men answered him as before. 31 What David said was overheard and reported to Saul, and Saul sent for him.

unexpected

King Saul, anointed, with the whole army of Israel were afraid of Goliath. None could face him, rather, none attempted, none was willing to lay down his life to take away this reproach from Israel. These were men chosen for their strength, skill, and experience, yet they failed. They failed because of their unwillingness to make sacrifices.

Friends, can you see the similarity between this story and what is taking place in your community, state, province, and country? This cut across every nation. Officials are selected, chosen, and elected, into office with the hope that they will represent and fight for the need of the electorate. However, they get to the battlefield, and suddenly they are too scared to speak, be a voice for the voiceless, and champion the cause of the people.

Well, God always has alternatives! He is never short of vessels fit for his use. A David is coming, unannounced, unassuming, and unexpected. David did not look like it, I mean, he wasn’t even qualified as an armor bearer, horse whisperer, neither a cook. He was just not fit for coming out for war. Yet, the Almighty God brought Goliath down by his hands. He gave his honor, life, everything as sacrifice to restore honor to the armies of the Most High.

underestimateDavid did not think highly of himself, he just wanted to stand for God! Some of us are so self conscious of their own honor to speak the truth where it matters! May God not replace you and I, for the axe is already place!

The Goliath defying the armies of God is coming down. As it was, so is! God already spoke it, so shall it be. Therefor, friends, whatever Goliath represent in your life, note that its time is short. What will bring it down will not look like it, sound like it, feel like it, dress like it, drive like it, run like it in anyways, yet Goliath will come down!

Generosity Expressed!

David, a man after God’s heart was a man thriving under the most severe circumstances. He was never reckoned with in his family, relegated to shepherd flocks and would have missed out of destiny but for the Lord’s call upon his life.

1 Samuel 16:8 Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, “The Lord has not chosen this one either.” Jesse then had Shammah pass by, but Samuel said, “Nor has the Lord chosen this one.” 10 Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The Lord has not chosen these.” 11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.

be-generousDavid went on to face and kill Goliath 1 Samuel 17, he escaped death from the hand of King Saul and avoided traps set for him – 1 Samuel 20,21,22,23,24,25,26, pressed on every side so much so that he flee to the Philistines for safety- 1 Samuel 27:1 But David thought to himself, “One of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul. The best thing I can do is to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will give up searching for me anywhere in Israel, and I will slip out of his hand.”So David and the six hundred men with him left and went over to Achish son of Maok king of Gath. David and his men settled in Gath with Achish. Each man had his family with him, and David had his two wives: Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail of Carmel, the widow of Nabal. When Saul was told that David had fled to Gath, he no longer searched for him.

Philistines has been enemies of Israel from time immemorial, yet it was with Philistine that David found solace, albeit temporarily. David was prepared to fight against his people, the Lord’s people to show his loyalty to those who gave him comfort. He would have been fighting against his maker had he not been sent back by the Philistines warlord, he would have displeased the Most High God.

God in His sovereignty sent him back to Ziklag. Friends, while David in solidarity with the Lord’s enemy rose up to fight against Israel, he opened himself up for the enemy to come in and dispossessed him. Had he not been sent back from going to war in 1 Samuel 29:6-11, he and his men would have lost their family and possessions forever.

What are you engaged in that is contrary to the will of God? What proposition are you making to subvert justice? Have you risen up against the peace of another, prosperity and breakthrough, promotion, marriage, ministry, life and destiny? Are you placing hindrances on others path? A stumbling block? Repent today! Stop striving with your maker. Israel sinned against God and had judgement passed upon them. King Saul and his generation after him had been rejected by God. Their death is imminent through the hands of their enemies, but not in coalition with David, an Israelite, anointed by God to reign after Saul. It would have seem that David was executing vengeance even though he did not call for war. He was only showing solidarity, yet God who weighs the intent of the heart, worked everything out to prevent David from committing sacrilege.

God was generous to David, his communion with God was not broken and hence he was able to inquire of the Lord, received instruction, acted upon it, met an abandoned member of the raiding party whom he showed mercy, and who ultimately led him to where all his possession was recovered.

David, being grateful for God’s mercy and generosity was then able to institute such among his fighting men as in 1 Samuel 30:22-31. Do you have such a heart friends? A merciful and generous heart! A heart that knows it is by God’s mercy, love and grace that we are who we are and as such are generous towards others in forgiveness, love, respect, honor, giving, sharing, encouragement, friendship, kindness, words etc!

Of such the Lord Most High seeks!!!

Jesus Cares – For you!

Thank Jesus for life!

Thank Jesus for life!

1 Samuel 17:37 The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”

Life is in seasons friends!  Whatever season you are presently in, remember the Lord your God and worship Him. He who was there in the season of scarcity, is in the midst of your plenty. He was in the midst of war, shielding and protecting and is still there in the midst of peace, stroking the back of your neck. This God is the Most High God, that rules in the affairs of men. He is ever faithful, only constant, always on time.

You see, while David was taking care of the Fathers herds, lions and bears came to steal, kill and destroy, but the Lord delivered him. There was no trophy, there was no applause but he knew for sure that if it had not been for the Lord, he would have been forgotten. Facing Goliath was not so scary after all. This was standing for the Most High God who had delivered him in the wilderness. How can he standby and this awesome God is defied by an uncircumcised Philistines? That was too much for David to take in, He did not volunteer because of the reward but to silence and end the reproach and ridicule thrown upon the armies of the Most High God.

What is that situation in your life causing you shame, reproach and is ridiculing you – your maker? What situation is defying the grace of God upon your life? Friends and family have called your faith in Jesus Christ into question, slandered your faith in God – why hasn’t he shown up for you? Foes have requested evidence of your faith. Where is your God?- echoes all around you.

Too many questions you cannot answer, and many unanswered questions of your own. But, but, you know deep down within you that God loves you and is working out something wonderful for you. You know all things will work out for your good. You know without a shadow of doubt- God is working it out for you, he’s working it out for you.

Be assured that God is indeed working it out for you. Stop listening to the skeptic, turn a deaf ear to jeers, keep calm, God is working it out for you. He that made sure you did not fall into that ditch, the trap set by Satan himself will not let you be overwhelmed by that situation. God kept you alive, think of the near misses and you will realize there is a higher and greater purpose for your life. God is working it out for you.

This situation will pass, the storm will not sweep you off, Christ Jesus is in the midst of the storm, holding you, He is your anchor, hold on friends. Christ had done this before, remember that situation few years back, or was it months, probably weeks, yes that situation He maneuver you out of? He is the same yesterday, today and forever! He will show up for you and glad you will be!

Put your trust in the Lord friends for He cares for you. Shalom
