Restrained Hands! The Lord’s Mercy!

Nabal’s response of disgust towards David was deserving of commensurate action by David. Read 1 Samuel 25

However, David’s intention was more severe, though justified from many angle except the divine. Thank God for the quick intervention of Abigail, who the Lord used to restrain the hand of David from shedding innocent blood.

The Lord used Abigail, a human for David, I wonder who, or what the Lord uses presently to restrain His children from sinning? Abigail was like a conscience for David, a mirror reflecting his intention, a voice of reasoning. May the Lord place such along our path.

David could have resisted, ignoring the voice of reasoning, kill Abigail, and proceed to wipe out Nabal and all that is his,  however, he didn’t! And Abigail? She took her life in her hands just like Esther in Esther 4:16.

The Holy Spirit, the word of God and our moral compass tells us when we are doing something wrong. The question then is, are we listening?

The Lord has, and is sending whatever that needs to be sent, to restrain you and yours from damnation. Will you heed the call today? The call to yield your heart, and life unto the Lord.

It is by the mercies of God that you and I are not consumed – Lamentation 3:22-23. It is the hand of the Lord that has kept you and I from grievous sin.

It is God’s hand restraining the wicked one from making a shish kebab of us!

Yield your heart today! Tomorrow may be too late!

Shalom! Shalom! Shalom!

God Speaks Always! Are We Listening?

a117a0c5-4c7c-4c2a-8d97-627823e2062aGod speaks in diverse ways to His children, the question then is can we hear Him? Do we want to hear Him? Are we listening? Or has the cares of this world, the issues of life and sheer disobedience drummed out the Still Small Voice?

Numbers 22:19 Now therefore, please, you also stay here tonight, that I may know what more the Lord will say to me.” 20 And God came to Balaam at night and said to him, “If the men come to call you, rise and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you—that you shall do.” 21 So Balaam rose in the morning, saddled his donkey, and went with the princes of Moab.22 Then God’s anger was aroused because he went, and the Angel of the Lord took His stand in the way as an adversary against him. And he was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him. 23 Now the donkey saw the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with His drawn sword in His hand, and the donkey turned aside out of the way and went into the field.

Read the full chapter 22 of Numbers and you will hear a donkey speak. With God, you will hear the sound of matching on a mulberry tree as in 2 Samuel 5:24 And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the Lord will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”

Some years back, wow! It’s been over a decade now. It was on a Sunday, I had gone to Church weary and was not relieved. My soul was not refreshed on that fateful day, so after Church I did not want to be alone with the heaviness, for I knew it would bear down heavily on my heart.

I decided to call up an elder I knew from another branch of the Church I was attending. She is from my hometown and she is like a mother to me – Mrs Deborah Famutimi. I asked her what she had at home, I mean food! 😀😀😀. I mean, I wanted to know if she had just cooked stew with all the delicacies I liked, Oh yes!

“Oh, I am about to make vegetable stew- efo riro, she said.  I replied with excitement,  great! I am on my way, can you make my eba- cassava ball and leave out to cool down I said.

After the chit chat, pleasantries and all, the conversation turned to the vegetable cooking on the stove. Mummy went on to tell me about the vegetable seed someone had brought for her some years back that she planted in her garden but did not grow. We proceeded to the backyard.  She pointed to the spot she planted it the first year, another spot the next year, for it was only viable during the summer months. It was on the fourth summer that she saw weeds all over her yard. Everywhere was filled with weed she said, so she asked her brother when he came to visit her to check if this is weed or not.  Uncle was like, no, this is – spinach for ease. This is how she has been harvesting since then.

Where am I going with this story? What is the correlation with God speaking here? Well, as she was speaking and I was listening and looking around as she was pointing to one area after another, the Lord was speaking to me.

What do you mean the Lord was speaking?  Well, what I heard was, ” all the prayers you have been praying all this while, specifically for four years at that time, the Lord said they were going to be answered within the same year! I said aunty, as I sometimes call her, do you know what I am hearing as you are speaking? She answered me, ” what are you hearing? So I told her and she said Amen.

We went back into the house, I ate my eba with efo riro, packed some for latter, we jisted some more and I went home. Few months down the road, one thing led to another, I got a better job, got a confirmation that a surgically removed ovary had been supernaturally replaced, finished a degree course I was taking, met my husband, bought a house, and started a journey with the Holy Spirit full course!

God speaks in diverse ways friends, are we listening? Are we conscious of the presence of the Holy Spirit! Are we eager to hear? If only we will be quiet for once and often, to listen with the intention to obey God’s every command!  How sweet our journey will be, regardless of the rough terrain, the mudslides, downward spirals, and what not!

Friends, be encouraged,be determined to listen and obey! Come to the Lord today for no one that comes to Christ will He cast away!  John 6:37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.

Jesus Christ loves you and want a relationship with you! He wants to reveal His heart to you my friends!

Shalom! Shalom!
