True Ambassadors! Integrity!

Acts 1:8  But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

According to Luke, this is Jesus’s last word to his disciple, and to you and I. Jesus is saying even now that when the Holy Spirit comes upon us that we will be witnesses in our locale and to the ends of the earth.

integrityIs this true of us believers today? Are we truly Christ Jesus ambassadors? Are we truly representing Jesus to the unsaved, lost, weary, discouraged, downtrodden? Is your answer in the affirmative? I guess not! You and I know that the Word of God is powerful and able to transform lives. We know how to wedge the word to dislodge everything contrary to Christ Jesus, however, it seem the world is not changing, our society, community, families and lives are still what it used to be. We have not changed! We lack integrity!

Integrity! It means saying something, meaning it, and doing it. Integrity refers to your actions matching your words. Many times we say one thing and act another thing. This makes us not to be taken seriously. We are prone to speak from two sides of our mouth, I mean we say something and actually mean another. We have become two-faced! This need to change for us to impact our world effectively and efficiently for the Lord.

integrity when no one sees

As a parent, you ought to know by now, and as a friend, colleague, part of a group, you must know by now that when someone lack integrity, those in contact with you take your words with a pinch of salt, for it is just mere words. You do not inspire the best in others around you if your words mean nothing to them.

The Word itself carries depth of meaning and powerful by itself, however coming from you, hmmm, may connote a different meaning because your actions do not often match your words. All this is seen and heard clearly!

As a child, my dad very often will come with the driver, a chauffeur to pick us up after school. Dad will always have one stop or another to make along the way home. We lived about 40kms from our school, in the outskirt of our city. Dad will always want to see one or other of his relations, friends and acquaintances on the way. Dad will say, ” children, I will be back in a minute or two, and be gone for half hour. We were an okay family, so most times there is always refreshment in the vehicle with us. There was always a cooler with Maltina and a bag with Nasco biscuit to snack on, but we want to go home and play or something. You know children! We were typical children, restless when in one place.

postsAfter a while, we stopped believing dad’s 1 to 5 means just that. We were actually surprised one day when dad took just about 5 minutes or less. We clapped when he joined us in the vehicle.

Most of you must have been in that situation. You can relate to this scenario right? My children these days ask, “are we just going home after church or do you want to stop by the groceries or something mummy?” Can we just go home please?! “You can do that on your way from work tomorrow mummy!” Guess I took after my dad eh. 🙂

actionsWhere am I going with this? As a bible believer who desires to be a true ambassador of Christ, we must endeavor to match our words with our actions! If we say ABC, then we must act ABC! We must not say ABC, and act DEFG.

We must start living the word, not just saying it, preaching it, shouting it at the top of our lungs. We must be living it day in day out. The Word is powerful by itself! It can really change lives, transform minds and heart! Why don’t we allow it to transform us, renew our minds, so we can truly say something, mean it, and back it up with our actions.

There are too many professing Christ, but very few Christ redeemed, ambassadors of faith. We can all turn a new leaf today. Jesus Christ is able to transform you and I!

Just Imagine!!! Hmm!!!

When there is unity, unity of purpose, we often see the manifestation of the power of God. What we have been experiencing lately in the family and the Kingdom is individuality, personal marketing, and self promotion as it is in the World. The very fabric of our society is riddled with greed and self centered-ness.

Friends, stop right there!! Just imagine! Imagine we all, the different parts of the Lord’s body, coming together as one!! Yes, as ONE! What a miracle for the World to see.

Image result for the lord inhabits the praises

2 Chronicles 5:13 The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: “He is good; his love endures forever.” Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud, 14 and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God.

What a beauty!!! The breakthroughs, promotion, increase, expansion, fruitfulness of our bodies, healing, deliverance, and so much more that we need, want, and desire will be birthed in the place of praise unto our God in one accord, unity of purpose in spirit and in truth.

If only we will let go of the pretense and come together genuinely to praise Him who inhabit the praises of His peoplePsalms 22:3.

Who Have I Hurt? Said Samuel!!

1 Samuel 12:3 Here I stand. Testify against me in the presence of the Lord and his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken? Whom have I cheated? Whom have I oppressed? From whose hand have I accepted a bribe to make me shut my eyes? If I have done any of these things, I will make it right.”

This was Prophet Samuel, the product of a promise, a child of purpose, grown into a force used of God mightily and the institutor of Kingship in Israel! Prophet Samuel, what a man of integrity and humility. Having led Israel for many years, yet knows how feeble his righteousness was and is, declared the above statement to correct any wrong he may have done knowingly or unknowingly in error.

what you do speak louder than wordsToday, we hurt one another, rob one another of the blessings of peace without batting an eye! The question relevant to us this day and age would be, Who have I robbed of respect by spreading rumors about them? Who have I accused wrongly? Who have I subverted their righteous cause? Who have I cheated? Who have I lied about? Who have I been bullying? Who have I been Lording it over? Who have I been manipulated to resist their advancement because of my own insecurity? Who am I oppressing? Which evil deed am I supporting just to “keep face”? Can I honestly say, “If I have done any of these things, I will make it right.” Can you my friend? Prophet Samuel did?

I guess not! Our egos stand in the way of peace eh! We don’t want to seem to have backed down. What we don’t know is that we begin to lose ground gradually. God resists the proud!! The way we treat people that seem disadvantaged, albeit relatively, speaks volume about us louder than our eloquent speeches bathed in inconsistency. Words lose value the moment the audience begin to see actions that are inconsistent. Many will flow along, tune off and so on, but is it really worth it? To save face, when everything hidden will be brought to light?

Why not repent today and make amends? Change your ways in light of God’s Word. Let those words we know, no matter how little, and many, without it having a place in our hearts, the transformation will not take place. Therefore, Lord Jesus, let your words take root downward and bear fruits upward in our hearts. It will transform us from within and the evidence will be made known to all by the way we live and treat each other.

Relationship On My Mind! Transparency-Truth And Trust.

Genesis 2: 25 Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame. A man and a woman in a relationship are meant to be transparent with each other and much more as intended by God. They were naked, yet felt no shame I believe because sin had not yet come between them. The childlike innocence of a child is evidenced here, man and woman living in the garden of love, beautifully endowed with all they could ever need in the presence of God without inhibition. And then it happened – The Fall!

The fall with its attending consequence brought evil into the world and all things became difficult, even truth and transparency in relationships. The lack of truth and trust in our interaction with each other sometime spills over into marriage relationship. Many go into marriage with motives less than honorable, many with convoluted ideas of marriage, fundamentally wrong and leave their spouses gasping for air when reality set in – truth is revealed.

In some relationship, a partner, depending on upbringing and a number of factors may not be able to express themselves. Some for the fear of rejection withheld tangible information from their spouses, and fear also of been taken advantage of and some  may have been taught to not be overly honest in dealing with anyone, especially the opposite sex and this is carried into their marriage.

Some years back, a friend of mine a Law student at the time told me to make sure that my assets gotten before marriage remains in my maiden name and all sorts of advice she gave. In today’s terms it would be like a prenuptial agreement I guess.  I was curious and asked her where this “wisdom” was coming from. I assumed, being a law student, maybe she is been taught marriage law or whatever its called. However, I was surprised when she told me yes, but not that alone. It was the lessons learned in her own family. Her mother in a monogamous relationship, she said collects money from her father monthly for the upkeep of the whole family. Each month she will demand money for a bag of rice, which my friend said last them for about three month or more. She said she queried her mother and what she was told was that, ” you have to be smart with men, don’t tell them everything and in every which way you can take from them do so” She said the extra money received monthly was what her mother used to buy a piece of land and started building, which at the time my friend and I were having this conversation was at the roofing stage and the husband, my friends dad still do not know.

The environment we live in, our belief system, and experiences has a huge influence on how transparent we are or will be with our spouses and others generally. As Christians, regardless of our upbringing and experiences we can make up our minds to be truthful and transparent with our spouses as God demands of us. We truly cannot bond, soul and spirit without transparency on both sides, our bodies bond, we are more than just this body.  A house built on untruth will one day collapse for an adage says ” if lie takes a journey, twenty years ahead of truth, one day, one day, truth will meet lie on the road and will overtake it” Another says, ” twenty year old pounded yam or mashed potato can still scald one’s hand”.  Its meaning simply is that every lie will be found out no matter how long it’s been told – Matthew 10:26, Luke 8:17 Live a life of integrity!

Your life might be the only bible someone might get to read! What do you want them to read? Truth, love, compassion and integrity? Forsake untruth today! Seek the truth of the word of God, meditate in it day and night.

Truth! Holy Spirit!

Acts 4:32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in  common. 33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. 34 Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, 35 and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had ne!ed. 36 And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus,37 having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

truthActs 5: 1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

Reading the Acts of the Apostles makes you to wonder if the gospel that was preached and lived by then is what is been preached now! The disciples were not set against each other to spy, monitor and gather evidence yet Peter knew what was agreed upon. There was no need for the Holy Spirit was made manifest, He was real as Christ was to Peter!!!!! You would wonder why was there so much result then and there seems to be explainable result now?  We’ve gone lukewarm I guess! Why was it a death sentence to lie back then and now it has become a virtue so to speak? The fire on our hearts have gone cold. Oh Friends, let us fan it back. We must not go cold. Arise, shake off weariness and praise God. Ask God for help.

The Holy Spirit was manifest then and it is still very active today, and will be until our Savior comes back for the Church without spot or wrinkle. Yet, it is very easy for us to lie straight faced now and feel no qualms. Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

Our Father In heaven, please pour out your Holy Spirit afresh on us. May the fire on the altar of our hearts be rekindled, may we hunger and thirst after righteousness like the apostles of old. We ask for fresh oil Lord. Fill us afresh with your Holy Spirit in Jesus mighty name we pray.

Shalom! Shalom!
