Tag: May I not sin against you Lord

Acts 4:32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in  common. ³³ And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. ³⁴ Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, ³⁵ and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had ne!ed. ³⁶ And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus,³⁷ having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

Acts 5: 1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. ² And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet.³ But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?⁴ While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

Reading the Acts of the Apostles makes you to wonder if the gospel that was preached and lived by then is what is been preached now! The disciples were not set against each other to spy, monitor and gather evidence yet Peter knew what was agreed upon. There was no need for the Holy Spirit was made manifest, He was real as Christ was to Peter!!!!! You would wonder why was there so much result then and there seems to be explainable result now?  We’ve gone lukewarm I guess! Why was it a death sentence to lie back then and now it has become a virtue so to speak? The fire on our hearts have gone cold. Oh Friends, let us fan it back. We must not go cold. Arise, shake off weariness and praise God. Ask God for help.

The Holy Spirit was manifest then and it is still very active today, and will be until our Savior comes back for the Church without spot or wrinkle. Yet, it is very easy for us to lie straight faced now and feel no qualms. Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

Our Father In heaven, please pour out your Holy Spirit afresh on us. May the fire on the altar of our hearts be rekindled, may we hunger and thirst after righteousness like the apostles of old. We ask for fresh oil Lord. Fill us afresh with your Holy Spirit in Jesus mighty name we pray.
