The Road Less Traveled – Greatness!

Every being, well, most being wants to achieve great things. We want to leave great legacy, achieve feats, pioneer greatness in everything. As Christians, Christ followers, we want to be used by God as vessels of honor, battleaxe, sign, and a wonder. We desire greatness and pray always for the power of the Living God to manifest in our lives, through us, and much more.

God on His part wants to accomplish all these and beyond what we could ever think or imagine. The only clause then is, are we willing to yield ourselves totally? Are we able to go on the road less traveled? This is the place where our faith is tested, a wilderness, and a place where we see ourselves the way God see us, and realize we do need God’s help. This is the place where we are tempted the most, where the devil try to weary us so he can steal, kill, and destroy.

A faith untested,  and un-proving is not reliable, so is any one who has not been tested and proving by trials. To achieve greatness in life then, one must be willing to go on the road less traveled. The price may include so much as becoming a slave like Joseph did, lonesomeness like Moses, stripped of earthly royalty, a fugitive in the wilderness. What should I say about Ruth? She had to lose her husband, Esther had to compete with other women for the Kings heart, Jesus Christ our Lord for forty days and forty night, had to be hungry and tempted by Satan, the Samaritan woman had to experience heartbreak after heartbreak before she met the real deal – Christ Jesus our Savior.

To become who God created us to be from heaven’s perspective, some pruning must surely take place. Apostle Paul had to be blind for some days, dependent on others to show him the way. Imagine him, a leader, well read, champion of persecution, authoritative figure having to be led! What an humbling situation!!!

The situations and circumstances giving you heartaches are the road less traveled friends. These are what God is using to prune you so you can be fit for the purpose for which you were created. Those extra baggage tailing you had to be discarded. We hold unto things, pride, ego,  our ways, right, self righteousness, self sufficiency so much that we leave no room for the Spirit to work in us to will and to act as He intends, so God in His mercy send us to the school of life to learn, and learn we do when our back is to the wall, we just must look up.

When we come to the end of our rope in an instant with that thorn in the flesh that we cannot remove by ourselves, then we pray as Paul did. Usually, the thorns are the last place we think we will have an issue, the area of our strength – our strong suit, that very place is where we will be tempted so ferociously by the enemy to the point of weariness.

We must not be weary though, for God said in our weakness is His strength revealed. 2 Corinthians 12:But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

We must constantly, I mean keep our eyes on our Savior, for if we do not, we may sink or be swept away by the tides. Let us keep our eyes on Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior for He alone can help us. We must seek His face with all our heart, leaning not on our own understanding, but His, with all our hearts, soul and body.

Lord Jesus, we thank you for your faithfulness, for never giving up on us. Thank you for loving us. Father we ask in Jesus mighty name, that you will hasten our stay in this wilderness, help us to learn, see, discard , uproot, plant, prune and all that need to be, in order for us to pass for the glory of your name. Oh Lord, let us not throw in the towel at the edge of our deliverance. Help us to stay the course and come out triumphant Lord. Let your peace never depart from us Lord. Envelop us in your mercy Most High God in Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen

Shalom! Shalom! Shalom!

Backside of The Desert!! Character Is Developed!!

backside of the desertMoses from all account as stated in the scripture was ordained a deliverer. He was born to save his people from slavery. Moses however, thought it would be by his own strength, power and wisdom. How wrong he was! He ended up a reject, a fugitive and a “glorified”slave working for his father in law. Exodus 2: 1- 22

How best can Moses be described during those forty years of running from destiny? This is a man raised in royalty, having been spared to fulfill destiny while other babies perished. As a baby he was shielded from evil, mistakes and all ills, however as a self sufficient adult, he made a blunder that would have changed the course of his life but for predestination – the hand of the Most High God.

Friends, can you relate your own life to that of Moses? You know you are part of the player in the agenda of heaven – you have been saved and know God has a plan for you, then a blunder, wrong decision and action, sending you to the backside of the desert. Exactly where the devil wants you and I, stigmatized, rejected and failing. You see, the back side of the desert is the training ground, where obedience and servitude is learnt, character is developed and tested, where solitude reveals you to yourself. Moses came from the palace, a prince of Egypt, however by the time he got to Median, like Joseph, his princely robe was torn, his appearance was like that of a vagabond. Prim and proper look and the courtesy of being a royal was no more.

While Moses was siting by the well, he must have thought deeply and regretted defending his people by killing that Egyptian. Oh! how I wish I can turn the clock back he must have thought. How did I get myself into this? What happened back there Lord? Like Moses, you and I have gone through situations and circumstances that has brought us to our knees and raised our eyes to the heavens where our help come from. We have been stripped of the colorful robes like Joseph and royal pomp and pageantry like Moses and in the backside of the desert, dry, uncomfortable place where we have been taunted, ridiculed, called names, in servitude and even our faith and loyalty is been questioned.

The Priest of Midian who later became Moses’s father in law and mentor knew nothing about Moses’ life and struggle in Egypt but took him in just the way he was, just like Jesus Christ took us into his kingdom and transformed us, giving us purpose and meaning. Moses must have resigned his life to barely existing just like most of us, until that encounter with the burning bush. He must have thought, this is how he was going to live out his life – he did not bother being on his own like Jacob did. He did not bothered about striking out, dreaming big, doing something extraordinary, standing for something great, anything worthwhile, just like you and I sometime. Life sometime has a way of conditioning humans to become who they are not or were not meant to be, filled with self doubt and resigned to fate.

God knew Moses had to be startled out of slumber, mediocrity and stagnation. He started the bush on fire without it been consumed. Friends, be alert, be sensitive, the Lord wants you to pay attention now more than ever. Your dream must not die, your destiny is too glorious to wither, do not quench the spirit within you, let not the coal die off, fan it back, fire it up, the Lord need your service. You are a carrier of greatness and heaven depend on you to bring down God’s kingdom on earth. Like Moses, will you step aside and glance at the burning bush? You cannot afford to ignore the call, a whole nation depends on you. Yes, it might be the nation within your loins! Are they not worth striving for excellence for?

Arise and shine friends, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness over its peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light and kings to the brightness of your dawn. Lift up your eyes and look about you: Isaiah 60:1-4 Things have really changed as you have been transformed and renewed.

Arise now and take your rightful place in destiny. Open your mouth and speak God’s word to your life and future and watch your life taking shape as ordained of God. Quit second guessing yourself! You are more than able through Christ who strengthens you to fulfill your God given destiny.

Arise today and declare, I am progressing, achieving my goals, possessing my possession, attaining heights, pioneering uniqueness and authenticity of serving God through his people, breaking barriers, removing limitations, shining as star for all to see and much more. Declare and decree and it shall be so! Praise God

This can only be friends if you know and have a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Will you seek his face today? Come just as you are, accept your need for his salvation, believe that Jesus indeed loved you enough to die for you on the cross and confess his lordship over your life, repenting of your past sins and letting go of it with all the pains and hurts in your heart. Let the balm of Gilead soothe your aches. Welcome to the Kingdom of God friends!
