There are seasons in life when understanding escapes us. Moments when events unfold without explanation, when what is happening around us—and within us—cannot be neatly interpreted or rationalized.
In those seasons, you must lean more deeply into God.

You cannot trust your feelings alone. Feelings fluctuate. Emotions respond to pressure, fear, and uncertainty. Scripture cautions us:
“He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.”
Proverbs 28:26
This is the time to question your assumptions, not God’s faithfulness.
Can you truly make sense of what is happening in your life right now?
Can you fully explain what is unfolding in your world?
If the answer is no, you are not alone.
Life is full of seasons that require waiting rather than answers. Times when all that can be done is to remain anchored, trusting that God is still at work even when clarity has not yet arrived.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Sometimes, the soul longs for a fresh start—a shift, a turning, a new season. Just as a new year begins with the promise of renewal, we ask ourselves: Can I truly feel the newness yet?
Perhaps it feels too early. The day is only just breaking.
And yet, when your soul is thirsty, you do not want refreshment later—you want it now.
“As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.”
Psalm 42:1
When the night has been long, dark, cold, and lonely, the heart naturally looks toward the horizon with expectation. You watch closely for the breaking of the day.
This is the cry of the waiting soul:
Lord, speak to me now.
I am yearning for Your presence.
For Your essence.
For Your Spirit and Your comfort.
David understood this longing when he prayed:
“My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God.”
Psalm 42:2
There are moments when words fail, plans stall, and strength feels depleted. In those moments, prayer becomes less about eloquence and more about dependence.
I need You, Lord.
Come and quench the thirsting of my soul.
Refresh me by Your Spirit.
Restore what has been drained by waiting.
God is not distant from your longing. He promises:
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
Matthew 5:6
Lift your cup to Him—even if it feels empty.
“My cup runneth over.”
Psalm 23:5
What you are waiting for may not yet be visible, but God is already present in the process. Dawn does not announce itself loudly. It arrives quietly, faithfully, right on time.
Do not lose heart in the in-between. The same God who carried you through the night will meet you in the morning.
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
Psalm 30:5
Closing Prayer
Father God,
In seasons we do not understand, teach us to lean into You. When feelings are unreliable and answers are delayed, anchor our hearts in truth. Speak to our souls in the quiet moments of waiting. Quench our thirst with Your presence and refresh us by Your Spirit.
We lift our empty cups to You, trusting that You are the One who fills, restores, and renews. Help us to wait with faith, hope, and expectancy, knowing that morning will surely come.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Shalom.
