As a child of God, be it a prophet, teacher, evangelist, encourager, etc, our familiarity with The Word, our “knowing” of the things of God, the mind of God, our age and the likes often and may cause us to have “dullness” of hearing, “weakness” in our eyes like Eli had in 1 Samuel 3. Yet God in His infinite mercy and love makes provision for us. He sent Samuel to Eli’s household and has sent His Holy Spirit to us in this end time as Christ promised in John 14:15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth.
