2 Kings 2:1 And it came to pass, when the Lord was about to take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. Then Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to Bethel.” But Elisha said, “As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So they went down to Bethel.

Situation, circumstances, well meaning people and not so well meaning ones will harmer on the facts of your life to distract and discourage you from your goal. You will be made jest off, your own perceived inadequacies will threaten your peace. You might second guess your ability to cope and be efficient in carrying out your task, fulfilling destiny.

Your master, covering, mentor, those things that gives you balance and stability, when they are taken away or been threatened to be taken away causes distraction. It most often makes you to lose focusing on God wholeheartedly to bring to pass His good pleasure in your life according to Philippians 2:13.  You have to learn to sift through all these and hold unto that which is needful, focus on the author and finisher of your faith – Jesus.

This was Elisha’s experience in 2 Kings 2:3 Now the sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that the Lord will take away your master from over you today?” And he said, “Yes, I know; keep silent!”…..5 Now the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came to Elisha and said to him, “Do you know that the Lord will take away your master from over you today?” So he answered, “Yes, I know; keep silent!”

There will be those also who are not helping you with encouragement, neither are distracting you in anyway except as prying eyes, watching your every movement, waiting to see you fall, fail or falter like in 2 Kings 2:7 And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went and stood facing them at a distance, while the two of them stood by the Jordan.

Friends, you have to be sure and committed totally with faith to your calling. Distractions will come from everywhere once you start following your goal, distractions from places you least expect, please learn to stay true to yourself. Keep your destiny in sight, focus on Jesus Christ. What has the Lord shown you? What has He said in the scriptures? Trust those words as revealed unto you. It will be as the Lord has said. He is able that promised.

Shalom
