Philippians 1:15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, 19 for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. 20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
Judge 16:28 Then Samson prayed to the Lord,“Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.” 29 Then Samson reached toward the two central pillars on which the temple stood. Bracing himself against them, his right hand on the one and his left hand on the other, 30 Samson said, “Let me die with the Philistines!” Then he pushed with all his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. Thus he killed many more when he died than while he lived.
Paul was a disciple of Christ Jesus and lived fulfilling the purpose for which he was saved. So can be said of Samson from all account except that he chose to end his usefulness and God obliged him. What do you mean you might be asking. Well, let us look at the life of Paul and Samson. There is no real correlation here. Paul, previously Saul was far from the Lord Jesus. He was persecuting the body of believers, having been recruited by Satan. On the other hand Samson was born to be God’s battleaxe with which to crush the Philistines to bits. The council in heaven must have been disappointed looking at the events in Samson’s life. His choices of women and the desires that plagued him.
Why would heaven choose such a man as he? Samson was anointed invitro just like John the baptist was according to Luke 1:13 But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid,Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. 14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born.
Why then did Samson end the way he did? He could have asked God to restore his sight as his strength were been restored. He could have choosing to live and execute more assault on the Philistines to wipe them off totally, yet he chose to die the day he died. He relinquish his will to live and God accepted his request, unlike Paul who chose to live in line with the will of heaven to fulfill all the tasks that has been earmarked for him.
So where am I going with this analysis, albeit short as it is? It is to let you know friends that you, as anointed of the Lord, does have a choice as to what you would allow in your life. Gone are the days of ignorance when buffeted from every side with that which the Lord has given us power over. We can choose to live a fulfilled life in Christ, living everyday to please him, body, soul, and spirit. We can choose to live in the face of all the sickness, diseases, fear, failure and all sort that wants to cripple us.
Choose to live today! Refuse to be relegated to the realm of the dead. Live fully consciously with purpose. Let the enemy know you are not giving up just yet! You ain’t done doing what you were created for. Your voice need to be heard in the uttermost part of the earth. You still need to give birth to those dreams, ideas, business, and inventions. God is releasing some anointed babies invitro and your womb must carry such, so get ready, do not give up now!! That alliance that will glorify God in form of union in marriage is been arranged, do not settle for less. Be expectant! Be excited! Be conscious!
Choose to live consciously on purpose to please the Lord. No matter what comes your way, you have a choice as to your action, reaction, and perspective. See with the eyes of the gospel, look for God in all you do. What benefit is all this to the kingdom of God should be a question that should be answered in the affirmative.
Choose life! Choose love! Choose Christ Jesus today! He makes all things beautiful
Shalom! Shalom! Shalom!
Thank you for this excellent post and two examples from scripture. God does grant us free will. I pray we lift one another up in prayer as we begin the new year and talk with God about what He wants us to do and whom He wants us to help! There are so many people in need!
