Every being, well, most being wants to achieve great things. We want to leave great legacy, achieve feats, pioneer greatness in everything. As Christians, Christ followers, we want to be used by God as vessels of honor, battleaxe, sign, and a wonder. We desire greatness and pray always for the power of the Living God to manifest in our lives, through us, and much more.
God on His part wants to accomplish all these and beyond what we could ever think or imagine. The only clause then is, are we willing to yield ourselves totally? Are we able to go on the road less traveled? This is the place where our faith is tested, a wilderness, and a place where we see ourselves the way God see us, and realize we do need God’s help. This is the place where we are tempted the most, where the devil try to weary us so he can steal, kill, and destroy.
A faith untested, and un-proving is not reliable, so is any one who has not been tested and proving by trials. To achieve greatness in life then, one must be willing to go on the road less traveled. The price may include so much as becoming a slave like Joseph did, lonesomeness like Moses, stripped of earthly royalty, a fugitive in the wilderness. What should I say about Ruth? She had to lose her husband, Esther had to compete with other women for the Kings heart, Jesus Christ our Lord for forty days and forty night, had to be hungry and tempted by Satan, the Samaritan woman had to experience heartbreak after heartbreak before she met the real deal – Christ Jesus our Savior.
To become who God created us to be from heaven’s perspective, some pruning must surely take place. Apostle Paul had to be blind for some days, dependent on others to show him the way. Imagine him, a leader, well read, champion of persecution, authoritative figure having to be led! What an humbling situation!!!
The situations and circumstances giving you heartaches are the road less traveled friends. These are what God is using to prune you so you can be fit for the purpose for which you were created. Those extra baggage tailing you had to be discarded. We hold unto things, pride, ego, our ways, right,self righteousness, self sufficiency so much that we leave no room for the Spirit to work in us to will and to act as He intends, so God in His mercy send us to the school of life to learn, and learn we do when our back is to the wall, we just must look up.
When we come to the end of our rope in an instant with that thorn in the flesh that we cannot remove by ourselves, then we pray as Paul did. Usually, the thorns are the last place we think we will have an issue, the area of our strength – our strong suit, that very place is where we will be tempted so ferociously by the enemy to the point of weariness.
We must not be weary though, for God said in our weakness is His strength revealed. 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
We must constantly, I mean keep our eyes on our Savior, for if we do not, we may sink or be swept away by the tides. Let us keep our eyes on Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior for He alone can help us. We must seek His face with all our heart, leaning not on our own understanding, but His, with all our hearts, soul and body.
Lord Jesus, we thank you for your faithfulness, for never giving up on us. Thank you for loving us. Father we ask in Jesus mighty name, that you will hasten our stay in this wilderness, help us to learn, see, discard , uproot, plant, prune and all that need to be, in order for us to pass for the glory of your name. Oh Lord, let us not throw in the towel at the edge of our deliverance. Help us to stay the course and come out triumphant Lord. Let your peace never depart from us Lord. Envelop us in your mercy Most High God in Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen
